5 Minute DIY | Flower Thumb Tacks

Introducing "5 Minute DIYs"! As I mentioned yesterday, I'm so excited to launch this new series on the blog today. In addition to my regular tutorials, these are meant to be quick DIY pick-me-up projects for those of us that may not always have the time to dedicate to crafting.

I love today's project, because I actually use these on a daily basis! Adding flowers to boring old thumb tacks is such a fun way to add a pop of color and jazz up a bulletin board you may have at home or the office. Great for decorating kids rooms too. Plus, you'll always have blooming flowers to look at regardless of the weather outside!

Materials:
• Small artificial flowers
Thumb tacks
• Glue gun
• Scissors

Steps:
• Cut the stems off the artificial flowers. If the center of the flower falls off, glue it back onto the flower.
•  Hot glue the back of each flower to the top of a thumb tack. Press firmly until dry.
• Pin them to your board. Tip: When pulling off the pins, pull by the base of the thumb tack and not the flower to avoid it from breaking apart over time.

    Will the glue hold?
My experience is that this type of glue doesn't stick well to metal :-/

    Did anyone try this DIY?

    1. Hi Frida! The hot glue definitely holds, but you just have to be a little careful when pulling the pins off your cork board. I recommend pulling them out from the base of the pin and not the flower itself. Good luck!

    1. Hi Donna! I got them from Michaels Arts & Craft store. I picked them off of long stemmed silk flowers.
